September 21, 2024
Donald Trump is going to win the 2024 election, for essentially the same reason he won in 2016. I'd been slightly worried about his prospects until a recent interaction with a left-leaning constituent on X/Twitter finally convinced me of why he'll ultimately be victorious.
Let's go back to 2016. Trump was a brash interloper who crashed the party of presidential politics, where every word uttered in public is traditionally the product of focus groups and highly trained professional operatives.
His brashness made him a media sensation. His secret weapon was that despite his shock value, he said things that regular Americans were thinking but had become accustomed to not saying out loud. He made himself relatable to regular Americans despite his background as a rich guy from New York City.
I was surprised when he won – pleasantly so – but I think he was probably more surprised than anyone that he had defeated the pre-programmed coronation of Hillary Clinton. He won because he made himself relatable.
It's 2016 All Over Again
Fast forward to 2024 and just the other day, when I posted on social media: "Hollywierd stars; famous musicians; washed up politicians. None of them can relate to you. Vote Trump!"
My left-leaning constituent replied with a clip of JD Vance commenting on Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris. Vance said, "I don't think most Americans… are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans."
My constituent labelled that statement as ironic given that Trump can also be called a billionaire celebrity. And that's when it dawned on me that Trump is absolutely going to win this election.
Under Attack
Over the last nine years, Donald Trump has endured a constant barrage of attacks from the political/media/establishment/celebrity/industrial complex. From 'Russia, Russia, Russia' to the impeachment hearings to two assassination attempts, Trump has been consistently under some form of attack. And that's what regular Americans can relate to.
Americans feel beat down every time they go to the grocery store. They've felt demoralized every time they've filled up their tank. Their instincts and core values have been assaulted by those who insist that men are not men and women are not women. The very borders that constitute America have been obliterated by millions of uninvited foreign invaders.
And let's not forget that we're only a few years removed from the traumatic experience of having a gain-of-function bioweapon engineered by our own tax dollars and unleashed upon us, as well as the added insults of getting locked down and watching grandma die as her loved ones were kept separated and behind glass during her final moments.
Despite his background as a billionaire celebrity and former member of elite society, regular working Americans can relate to Trump because the unwarranted and relentless beatdown he has endured and withstood is akin to their own. He survived a literal bullet and immediately committed himself to "fight, fight, fight" while regular Americans have had no other choice but to endure and fight.
His fight is our fight.
Authenticity Counts
Americans are not fooled by engineered "joy" or the pathetic word salad they're being served by the Democrats as a "new way forward." They can spot a fake from a mile away. Some will actually fall for it, but another pre-programmed coronation is just not in the cards.
Say what you will about Donald Trump, but he's authentic. His experience over the last nine years makes him real and relatable to regular working Americans. People vote with their gut, and that's why Trump will win.
My confidence is no reason to let up, though. We Republicans must still knock on doors, get out the vote, and convince the undecided why this is the most important election in America's history.
The Weeks Ahead
There is still much work to be done in Pennsylvania. We need to elect Dave McCormick to the US Senate, recapture the majority in the PA House of Representatives, defend the PA Senate majority, and win the statewide row office races.
Here in Lebanon County, we are conducting the biggest voter registration and mail-in voting drives we've ever undertaken. I have committed thousands of dollars to all these efforts, and my goal is to empty the tank in support of Republican victories up and down the ballot before the November 5th General Election.
I would be extremely grateful if you would assist me in these efforts by making a contribution to my campaign today. It's now or never - the fate of our nation and the commonwealth are at stake.
